A FŐBB SZÁNTÓFÖLDI NÖVÉNYEK TERMELÉSE ÉS AZ ÁLLATÁLLOMÁNY ALAKULÁSÁNAK KILÁTÁSAI AgEcon
Hegedus-Baranyai, Nora.
A vizsgálatok a múltbeli tendencia folytatásaként a búza, a kukorica vetésterületének csökkenését, illetve a napraforgó növekedését vetítik előre.

Scandelai,Luís Henrique Mariano; Leonel,Sarita; Apponi,Luciene Michelle.
The experiment evaluated the agronomic characteristics of 'Prata-anã' and 'Maçã' banana plants, in the São Manuel region of São Paulo state. In the first crop cycle, the number of days from planting to inflorescence and from inflorescence to harvest; the number of shoots until the appearance of inflorescence and during the harvest period; active leaves number at inflorescence appearance and during the harvest period. Were evaluated yield parameters: like average weight of bunch, hand, rachis and fruit; average fruit number per hand and bunch; average fruit diameter and length. Incidences of plague diseases, as well as their severity were also evaluated. Delineation was totally at random, with 2 treatments, 15 replications and 5 useful plants per...

Analysis of rhythmic variance - ANORVA. A new simple method for detecting rhythms in biological time series Biol. Res.
Celec,Peter.
Cyclic variations of variables are ubiquitous in biomedical science. A number of methods for detecting rhythms have been developed, but they are often difficult to interpret. A simple procedure for detecting cyclic variations in biological time series and quantification of their probability is presented here. Analysis of rhythmic variance (ANORVA) is based on the premise that the variance in groups of data from rhythmic variables is low when a time distance of one period exists between the data entries. A detailed stepwise calculation is presented including data entry and preparation, variance calculating, and difference testing. An example for the application of the procedure is provided, and a real dataset of the number of papers published per day in...

Cycle de reproduction naturelle de l'huître creuse Crassostrea gigas ArchiMer
Goulletquer, Philippe.
Since its introduction to French coasts in the 1970s, Crassostrea gigas completes its reproductive cycle—i.e. regular annual recruitment and establishment of natural populations—in only two sectors (Charentes coast and Arcachon Bay). In other areas of Pacific oyster production (Normandy, Brittany, Vendée, Mediterranean), complete gametogenesis may occur, resulting in spawning events and even recruitment in favourable temperatures. Temperature seems to be the main limiting factor for in situ reproduction. Growth and reproduction occur simultaneously. The study of the reproductive cycle of one-year old oysters showed that gametogenesis was asynchronous with high interannual variability and growth appeared to take precedence over reproduction. On the...

Governing a Common-Pool Resource in a Directed Network AgEcon
Richefort, Lionel; Point, Patrick.
A local public-good game played on directed networks is analyzed. The model is motivated by one-way flows of hydrological influence between cities of a river basin that may shape the level of their contribution to the conservation of wetlands. It is shown that in many (but not all) directed networks, there exists an equilibrium, sometimes socially desirable, in which some stakeholders exert maximal effort and the others free ride. It is also shown that more directed links are not always better. Finally, the model is applied to the conservation of wetlands in the Gironde estuary (France).

La reproduction de l'Ormeau Haliotis tuberculata L. ArchiMer
Girard, Annie.
In order to improve the regulation of abalone 'fishing' and to provide for the restocking of supplies, more details of the reproductive cycle were sought. Attention is given to gonad morphology, acquisition of sexual maturity, juvenile hermaphroditism, gonad histogenesis and histology of gametogenesis, annual cycle of gamete emission, and the relation between size and fertility. Results are presented in graphs, histograms, diagrams and photographs. It was found that female reached sexual maturity during the 3rd year, at 38-54 mm, male during year 2 at 25-40 mm; there was successive juvenile hermaphroditism; an active period from mid-June to mid-November was indicated by the volumentric index of maturity; water temperature was associated with the...

Searching Explanations of Nature in the Mirror World of Math Ecology and Society
Scheffer, Marten; Wageningen Agricultural University; Marten.Scheffer@wur.nl.
Despite the huge scientific progress of the last century, the dynamics of complex systems such as the atmosphere, human societies, and ecosystems remain difficult to understand and predict. Nonetheless, our ability to carve the future depends largely on our insight into the functioning of such complex systems. Complex systems are the focus of considerable mathematical theory. Rather than referring to any particular part of the world, such theory addresses what seems to be another world: a world of strange attractors, catastrophe folds, torus destruction, and homoclinic bifurcations. So disparate is the language and notation in this discipline that it is hard to imagine that it has any thing to do with reality as we know it. Indeed, it deals with a kind of...

Selection for bulb maturity in onion Scientia Agricola
Cardoso,Antonio Ismael Inácio; Costa,Cyro Paulino da.
It is possible to produce onions (Allium cepa) all over the year in Brazil, but most of the Brazilian cultivars have poor quality bulbs, a fact that favours onion imports from Argentina, a producer of Valenciana type cultivars that does not bulb in Brazil, but please Brazilian consumers. To study the effect of selection for bulb maturity, seventeen half sib progenies selected for early maturity and twenty five for late maturity, from the intervarietal triple cross [Crioula x (Pira Ouro x Valenciana Sintetica 14)] were grown, along with the triple cross itself and the cultivars Pira Ouro (short-day), Crioula (intermediate-day) and Armada (long-day). A total of forty six treatments were tested in a randomized block design with three replications of 32 plants...

Use of a GnRH synthetic analog (buserelin) for estrous induction in female dogs Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Rezende,R.S.; Eurides,D.; Barbosa,C.P.; Lacerda,M.S.; Sampaio,R.L.; Gomes,A.L..
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a GnRH synthetic analog, as an estrous inducer in female dogs when administered during the anestrous phase, and to evaluate the pregnancy rate achieved through natural copulation. For this purpose, ten female dogs of different breeds were used. The subjects received buserelin by intramuscular injections at a dose of 2,1mcg when female dogs weighed up to 10kg (Group 1) and of 4,2mcg when the dogs weighed above 10kg (Group 2). Of the ten subjects, only three presented estrus after a single injection of buserelin: two dogs from Group 1 and one dog from Group 2 on average 7±1.29 days. The remaining seven dogs were given a second dose of buserelin, equal to the first administration. Of these,...
